NEW GOLF CLUB
FORMED AT GORDONTON. OPENING NEXT SATURDAY. On Wednesday a meeting was held in the Gordonlon hall of all Lliose interested in Hie formation of a golf club. A small investigation committee bad already chosen a suitable site and had drawn up a list of recommendations. There was an enthusiastic gathering, and a club was formed, llie following officers being elected:— President, Mr Charles Seddon; captain, Mr George Hampton; secretary, Miss U. Platts; committee (ladies), Mesdames Lister and C. Seddon; (men), Messrs D. Riddell and C. Lister.
The opening day will be held next Saturday. The links are on the property of Mr If. Drummond. They are very centrally situated and have two means of access—one from the Piako Hoad and the oilier from Hie main Gordonlon Highway close to the hall. Mr Drummond's properly seems to presold most promising material for the growth of an attractive country links. Although there arc apparently liiii surroundings, the Maori holes, small gullies, etc., vary the nature of Ihe country enough lo promise mosl inleresling play. The presence of a very sandy sub-soil will ensure against miy undue weliiess during the rainy mold hs.
