TUAKAU SHOOTING.
DEATH OF YOUNG WAN. INQUEST ARRANGEMENTS. MYSTERIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES. ■ , AUCKLAND, Monday. Fixtures have been made for -the conclusion of the inquest concerning the mysterious death of Mr Charles Raymond Finch, 'Single, aged 26, at Tuakau on December 16. Mf Finch had left his home in Tuakau on the evening of ’ his death, to go rabbit •sho-oWng and two hours later he was found lying dead half-way down the slope of a gully 30ft. deep. He had a rifle wound In the temple and there were two rifle wounds In the abdomen. The Inquest, which was opened the day after the fatality, Is to be resumed at Pukekohe at 9.15 a.m. on Wednesday, January 23, when witnesses living in the Tuakau 'district will be called. The inquiry will be continued in Auckland two days later. The proceedings will be In the Magistrate’s Court, 'commencing at 10 a.m., and evidence by police and expert witnesses will be heard'.
Many puzzling features 'surround the case. The rifie which Mr Finch carried, a .22 single-shot weapon, was found with the body. The 'occurrence of three wounds particularly interested the investigators, who included detectives from Auckland, and cartridges and bullets were collected after a minute search for the purpose of tests by experts in the city.
