AUCKLAND, Tuesday
Described as the originator of the Get-Rich-Quiok Agency, Sidney Alexander Wright (28), salesman, was sentenced to six months’ hard labour, to be followed by two years’ reformative detention. " He pleaded guilty to seven charges of stealing £63 from women and four of false pretences. The police said accused promised seven girls a job as manageress of a cookery shop at 32s (id weekly, lie asked (hem lo pul, up bonds, which ranged from £ls to £5. Accused had started another Get-Rich-Quick Agency this month.
The Magistrate, Mr Hunt, said accused had committed heartless frauds by robbing poor women. The excuse that be had a wife and child availed him nothing.
