ACCIDENTALLY SHOT,
MAN FOUND DEAD.
TUAKAU, Sunday.
Mr Raymond Finch, aged 25 years, a well-known Tuakau business man, was found dead on the property of Mr Joseph Fulton, about a mile and a-half from Tuakau this evening. Mr Finoh left Tuakau abput five' o’clock this afternoon to shoot rabbits. About 6.30 Messrs 11. V. Bevington and H. Barney, heard the sound of someone breathing heavily, the sound coming from a paddock. On looking over a fence they saw a man, lying face downward in a hollow. Thinking he was sleeping, the proceeded on their way. On returning to the locality on their way home the two men again looked in the paddock to see whether the man was still there, but there was no sound of breathing. They therefore investigated more closely, discovering that the man had a bullet wound in the head and one through the stomach. His rifle was under him and had been discharged. Near ny was a dead rabbit. Detectives from Auckland are investigating Mr Finch’s death. It is tl)ought he was accidentally shot in the head by sqmeone who was shooting in the vicinity, and that, as he fell, his own riile discharged, inflitcing the wound in the stomach.
