SCHOOL GALA DAY.

HAMILTON EAST EVENT. VARIETY THE KEYNOTE. Variety was the keynote of the annual gala day of the Hamilton East School which drew a large gathering of children, parents and friends to the school 'grounds in Dawson Street this afternoon. In addition to several stalls conducted by a ladies’ committee there were endless competitions and -several attractive displays presented by the pupils of the school. A great deal of interest centred around the competition for model aeroplanes while good support was forthcoming for a baby show. There was a lengthy school sports programme and folk-dancing and drill were two very entertaining sections of the programme. At the conclusion of Ihe afternoon the prizes were presented to the successful pupils.
