DIVIDEND OF 15 PER CENT.
SLIGHTLY LOWER PROFITS

Slightly lower profits are. disclosed, in the accounts of the National Tobacco Company (Napier) for the year ended October 31, the figures being £34,005, compared with £35,026 last year and. £43,41-1 the year before. Tills result is arrived at after deducting all the. charges and allowing £IB.OOO for income tax. To this is 'added last year’s balance -of £44-22, making £38,421. available for 'distribution. The directors recommend the distribution of a -dividend of 15 per cent, on ordinary shares and 8 per cent, -on preference shares, absorbing £1'9,43’4. The sum of £15,000 Is to be placed to reserve, bringing that account to £lll,OOO, and the balance of £‘3994 Is to be carried forward. Paid capital Is unchanged at £134,341, and the only, outside liability Is sundry creditors £2669. The chief assets are- property £59,932, -stocks £90,821, sundry 'debtors £44,044, cash £107,792. In the latest 'balance-sheet the items goodwill, patent rights and trade marks, which stood at £4-5,701 have disappeared, and the reserve account is less by £35,000.
