Dr. C. J. Reakes, Director-General of Agriculture, arrived in Hamilton from Rotorua yesterday,* and left last evening for Wellington.
Mr P. w. Maddock, of Wellington, New Zealand manager for the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Film 'Corporation, was in Hamilton to-day.
The Stratford Hospital Board has appointed Dr. William Brown, of Dunedin, to be medical superintendent of the hospital from January 1.
Mr W. A. Graham, examiner at the Money Order and Savings Bank,' Hamilton, has received notice of his promotion to accountant. Whangarei, and will proceed there at an early date.
Mr .T. 11. Lhxford, S.M., former Chief Judge of Western Samoa, and now S.M. of Thames, is to visit Samoa on High Court circuit, arriving by the Maui Pomare on February 7.
Mr John Farrell, of the J. G. Williamson managerial staff, is in Hamilton making arrangements for the appearance of the Grenadier Guards Band next week.
Mr W. G. Morrison, 8.E., a former resident of Christchurch, has been awarded the Telford Premium Prize by Hie Institute of Civil Engineers, London, for a technical paper on the Carllon Bridge, which was recently published by the institute.
Major-General Sir Fabian Ware, permanent vice-chairman of the Imperial War Graves Commission, is to address a public meeting at Auckland on Saturday.
