They say if he had been pressed he could have beaten another record. Yesterday's events produced extraordinary disparity in ages and build. Richardson, winner of the long jump, is nearly 6ft. tall, but only 15 years of age. The diminutive Canadian, 11. Wyer, who ran fifth in the Marathon race, is 49 and only sft. lin.
LOVELOCK UNBEATABLE. BETTER THAN NURMI. (Received August 9, 1.10 p.m.) 'LONDON, August" 8. Mr Ralph Hewins (an Oxford Blue) writing in the Mirror, describes Lovelock as unbeatable. In his present shape he is the most remorseless and lriciionless tiling he has ever seen. His time was worth 4 minutes 5 seconds on a fast track, and he is confident of doing 4 minutes 5 seconds, and faster, if necessary, than Nurmi thought possible.
