WAIKATO’S FOURTH GAME.
NORTH AUCKLAND TEAM’S VISIT.
The Waikato Rugby team played its fourth match of the season at Rugby Park to-day against the North Auckland representatives. The weather was fine but overcast and the ground was heavy following the recent rains. There was a fair attendance. The teams were:— Waikato. Fullback. —Davies. Threequarters.—Allen, Aitken, Oliver. Five-eighths.—Carroll, Solomon. Halfback. —L. Russell. Back Row.—J. Wynyard. Middle Row.—F. Cassidy, Thompson, Askew, Story. Front Row. Sharpe, Painton, Carter. North Auckland. Fullback.—Kerr. Three-quarters.—Davis, Campbell, Franich. Five-eighths—Cooney, Lawrle. Halfback.—Fergus. Forwards, —Cooper, Phuw, Morrissey, Linnell, McDonald, Bowling, FitzGibbons, McCracken. A cold southerly wind was blowing across the ground. Play had only been in progress for one minute when Davies kicked a good penalty goal for Waikato. Hard, even play followed until Allen added to the home score with another penalty. Just before half-time Russell, taking the ball from an opponent’s toe, ran i through smartly to send Story over for the first try of the match.
