GIFT TO CHURCH. ST. PAUL’S METHODIST BENEFIT. ANONYMOUS DONATION OF £3OO. Remarking that the church should possess seating accommodation equal In comfort to a picture-theatre, a staunch supporter of the 'St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Hamilton, has made a gift of over £3OO for the purpose of upholstering tho heavy wooden pews at present In use. V The anonymity of the donor is strictly maintained, but it is understood that the benefactor is a resident of Hamilton, who is intimately associated with the spiritual life of St. Paul’s.

The Minister, the Rev. 11. T. 'Peat, stated to-day that the donor had issued strict instructions with regard to anonymity, and on no account was identity to he revealed. No information could therefore be given as to tho sex or status of the benefactor. It was, however, Mr Peat said, a most welcome and appreciated gift. The work of upholstering has already been inaugurated but the final stages are not. expected to be reached for several weeks. When completed, churchgoers are likely to appreciate warmly the facilities that will he available, as it is intended that every seat in the church should pass through the hands of the upholsterers. Another Anonymous Gift.

Also preferring to remain anonymous, another supporter recently presented the church with' a handsome baptismal font. The handsome furnishing, which is executed in stone, was given as a tribute to the mother of filr Peat, when she recently celebrated her 90th. birthday.
