DAIRYING PROGRESS.

OTOROHANGA FACTORY. NEW BUILDING PLANNED. A contract for the construction of a new butter factory at Olorohanga has been let by the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company, Limited, the successful contractors being Messrs Hargreaves, Stapleton and Rolfe, of Hamilton. Commenting on t'he company’s new move, Mr C. J. Parlane, general manager, stated to-day that the factory would replace 111 at erected by the Te Kuiti Dairy Company many years ago, which was absorbed in the New Zealand company at the time of the amalgamation in 1919. It is anticipated that the new factory will be ready to start operations early in the coming dairy season. Its capacity will be between 4000 and 5000 tons of butter and a steampower plant would be installed owing to the high cost of electric power. Great development in dairying has taken place in the Otorohanga district in recent years and the need for a factory capable of handling the large amount of cream coming forward was imperative. ‘•The erection of this factory will not affect in any way the arrangement my directors have made with Ihe company's suppliers in Hie Te Kuiti district in connection with a Putter factory at that centre,” added Mr Parlane.
