The Great Northern meeting of the Auckland Racing Club was opened today in 'fine weather before a large attendance. The going was on the heavy side after recent rain. Following are the results:

Rebel Star was smartest to find bis, feet, Monanui and Mata Hari being his earlj tendants. Racing along the back Rebel Star was making play rrom Mata Han, Supreme Ruler, Alpinus, Grand Sport, Monanui, Royal Secret, Conference and Bonny Gay. Mata Hari headed Rebel Star acrnss the top, this pair being followed here by Alpinus. Grand Sport, Tin Lap, Supieme Ruler, Royal Secret, Monanui, Bonny Gay, Gold Pocket and Conference. Mata Hari swung for home with Rebel Star close up and Grand Sport, Tin Lap, Monanui and Supreme Ruler all In it. Finishing fast on the Inner, Monanui came through to win decisively by a length and a-half from the favourite, Rebel Star, with Supreme Ruler three parts of a length avvaybinatlon was finishing on into fourth position In front of Mata Hari, Gold Pocket, West Tor, Conference, Alpinus, Tin Lap, Bonny Gay and Royal Secret. Patutahi bad £533 invested on bis chances. Tudor was in charge early, being followed up the bill the first time by Clontarf Bill, Patutahi, Carlaris and Ruby Meteor. Patutahi had moved up to within striking distance of Tudor as the field negotiated the double in front or the stands, Clontarf mil following in front of Ruby Meteor and Carlaris. Racing up the r/' the second time the favourite was bowling along rreely in front of Patutahi, Ruby Meteor and Carlaris with Clontarr mil tailed ofT. Patutahi closed up on Tudor down ihe hill and was only two lengths away coming into the straight. In the run home, however, Tudor drew away to win easily by Tour lengths from Patutahi with carlaris two lengths further back in front of Ruby Meteor. Clontarf Bill finished down the straight. Record Flight was the first to become prominent, leading over the initial stages from Ballymoney, King Musk and Adalene. At the end or two furlongs Versant had moved up to show the way across the top to Supreme Court, Adalene, Gypsy Moth, Black Songster, King Musk, Leo Colossus, Ballymoney, Engl and Record Flight, Versant and Supreme Court were locked together at the home turn with Hunting Jay handy and Adalene following In front of Gypsy Moth, King Musk, Leo Colossus, Rlack Songster, Ballymoney and Record Flight. Hairway down the running Supreme Court appeared to have the Issue in sare keeping when King Musk finished with a rattle to beat him by three-quarters of a length. Mia Stella fell at the hurdle by the seven furlong peg and Prince of Orange sold out by the three furlong post and brought down Catoma and Cargen. As the field entered the straight the first time. Golden Knight was striding along in front of Thespis, Wee Pa’t, Billy Boy, Emancipation, Hounslow, Biform, Callamart, i.ucess and Make Up. At the back Thespis headed Gold Knight and rh’.s pair made play here from Wee Pat, Biliy Boy, Hounslow and Callamart, the last named falling at this stage. Gold Knight was still in charge at the six (urlcng peg when he fell and Thespis took up the running across the top from Wee Pat, Billy Boy, Make Up, Emancipation. Hounslow', Biform and Lucess. Wee Pat was in front at the turn with Make Up, who had improved his position considerably by tills, time, following m front of Emancipation, Biform, Thespis and Hounslow. In a stirring finish Wee Pat held on gamely to prevail by a length over Make Up with Emancipation five lengths away third. Lack had moved up to assume command, by the time the back was reached his closest attendants being L’Allegro, Puss Moth, View Halloo, Dark Marble, Hushing, Lord Val, Takakua, Mungatoon and Caliente. Across the top Takakua w'as on the heels of Lack and L’Allegro, this trio being followed here by Puss Moth, View Halloo, Gay Broney, Hushing, Caliente and Lord Val. L’Allegro was first to turn for home with Lack, Puss Moth, Takakua, view Halloo, Caliente and Lord Val following. In a' good finish View Halloo came on resolutely to win nicely by three-quarters or a length from Puss Moth with Lord Val a length away.
