THE AUCKLAND WARKETS. HEALTHY TONE PREVAILS. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Thursday. A healthy tone was manifest at the first call to-day, with bidding fairly free for most lines. The turnover has not been so heavy over the past 24 hours, but there has been no easing in values. The insurance section is still particularly firm, and a new high level was set for New Zealands with a sale at £3 4s. Interest in Farmers’ Auctioneering shares was renewed, and a sale of £5 ordinary shares at £4 showed a rise of 18s since the beginning of the month. There was keen bidcling for Government stocks, and buyers for 4 per cent. (1955) were prepared to give up to £IOB ss. Bidding was fairly free for a wide range of miscellaneous trading debentures, Auckland Gas leading the way with offers of £lO5 for 6 per cents. The Noon Call. A further rise in the value of Bank of New Zealand shares was recorded at „the noon call. There were later buyers in at £2 12s, hut sellers moved up” to £2 i2s Sd. Northern Steams continued active. Breweries gained Gd on llie recent rise. There were still offers of £2 4s, but holders asked £2 4s Gd.
