Hampshire. —Kent: First innings, 472 (Ames 109, Todd 127); second, 220 for four wickets (Woolley 68). Hampshire: First 473 (Moore 137). Hampshire won on the first innings. Somerset v. Gloucester. —Somerset: First 225, second 192 (Case, in, 106; Goddard took seven for 71). Gloucester: First 275 (Page 83, White took six for 96) ; second, 103 (J. Lee took five for 62 and White five for 40). Somerset Avon by 39 r.uns. Yorkshire v. Derby. — Yorkshire: First 99 (Mitchell took five for 26); second, 271 (Mitchell took six for 96). Derby: First 102 (Bowes took five for 60) ; second, 166 (Verity took four for 15). Yorkshire won by 102 runs. Sussex v. Northants. —Sussex: First 445"f0r five wickets, declared (James Langridge 90, John Langridge in 1.32). Northants: First 243; followed on and made 141 (Tale look'seven for 42). Sussex won bv. an innings and 61 runs. Essex v. Notts. — Essex: First 262; second 185 for three wickets. Notts, first 490 for five wickets declared (Harris 153, Hard staff 145). Leicester. — Glamorgan: First 366 (Turnbull 86, Smart 90); second, 161 for three wickets declared* (Turnbull 61). Leicester: First 240 (Shipman 82); second, 158 for two wickets. Glamorgan won on the first innings. Warwick v. Worcester. —Warwick: First 209 .(Wyatt, in,. 68; Perks took five wickets for 36); second, 340. Worcester, first, 165 (Pataudi 57, Gibbons, in, 70; Mayer took five for 40); second 282 for three wickets (Walters 100, Gibbons 100). Warwick won on the first innings.
Middlesex bowler, who performed the “hat trick” against the Australians, capturing the wickets of Grimmett, Ebeling, and Wall with three successive balls. The Mail says that Larwood created much discussion at Trent Bridge when after the announcements that he was not playing in the trial match he opened the bowling against Essex, working up a terrific pace. He operated with a leg trap field. Altogether he bowled 12 overs for 20 runs and no wickets.
