PLEASANT EVENING
BRIDE-TO-BE HONOUREDA very pleasant evening was tendered to Miss Edna Carrie in the Railway Institute on Wednesday evening, there being 130 friends present. The hostesses were Mesdames G. Scott, Rose and Robinson. Music was contributed by Misses Irene Hunwick, 0. and L. Wjeatherlej, Messrs J- 'Papesch, jun., and Weatherly, Mrs Roadley and the popular Mouth-Organ Boys. Items were rendered by Miss Mable Cameron (songs), Miss Dulcie Sorenson '(tap dances), Miss Jean Williams (elocution), Mr J. Papesoh (solos), Mr P. Evans (song and monologue). Messrs J. Papesch and C. Choat acted as accompanists. All the items were very enthusiastically received. ..... Mr George Scott, In a witty little speech, asked Miss Carrie to come forward and open the large number of parcels, which showed the esteem in which she is held by her numerous friends. Mr Carrie very appropriately replied and thanked everybody present, on behalf of his daughter, fo. the numerous useful and valuab.e Si Mr S. Baker replied on behalf of Mr 'F. Baker, who was unable to be present. • Competitions were won by Mr ana Mrs Yates, Miss M. Green and Mr B. Martin, Miss Sorenson and Mr R. Bachelor. With the singing of “Auld Lang Syne,” amidst a shower of confetti, a very enjoyable evening was brought to a close.
