ISLANDERS’ CONTRIBUTION. GOVERNMENT’S APPRECIATION. (Omcial Wireless.) RUGBY, Dec. 6. The Government of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands, a colony which comprises a group of small islands In the Western Pacific with a population of 34,000, has offered the sum of £750 as’a contribution toward-the cost of the defence services of the Empire. The offer has been gratefully accepted and the High Commissioner for the Western Pacific, Sir A. G. Murchison Fletcher, has been asked to convey the sincere appreciation of the British Government.
