ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
LORRY OVER A BANK. YOUNG GIRL’S COURAGE. WANGANUI, Thursday. A lorry laden with wool from Ohakune went over a bank near Kakatahi. The driver was Mr. Gordon Smith, aged 21, of Mosston, and with him in the cab of the lorry was Thelma Durling, aged 16 years, of Ohakune. Mr. A. W. Allen, of Hastings, arrived on the scAne shortly after the accident. “The girl was on the side of the road, barefooted, and pluckily binding, up the driver’s lacerated arms with her stockings.” said Mr. Allen. "How she managed to get the unfortunate man up the steep bank Is beyond me, but her courage in the circumstances was extremely praiseworthy. Miss Durling was suffering from severe shock and abrasions. SMALL BOY DROWNED. WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Through falling into an old well at Miramar this afternoon, Ronald Paterson, aged 44 years, was drowned DEATH FOLLOWS ACCIDENT.*. PALMERSTON N„ Wednesday. Following serious injuries received when he was knocked down by a motor-car last evening, Mr.' Clifford Wilson, aged 73, of Manakau, died in the hospital.
