BOY DROWNED.

FELL INTO A RIVER. (By Telegrapn.—Press Association.) HASTINGS, Sunday. At Ilaumoana Beach, William Kershaw, aged three years, lost his life. The boy was visiting the beach with ills parents and four other children. and was playing at the mouth of the Tukituki River wffien a large wave was seen to approach him. Some fishermen near by shouted a warning to him. He stepped back to avoid the wave, but fell into the river, which was running very swiftly. A man jumped into the water to save the boy, but his efforts were of no avail, the child being swept past him and out of sight.

At 10 o’clock last night the body was found a mile from the mouth of the river.
