CHEERFUL TONE.
STOCKS IN LONDON
FAVOURABLE INFLUENCES FEDERAL CONVERSION LOAN United Press A=sn.—Elec. Tel. Copyrght. (Received Oct. 2, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, October :. The stock exchange maintain; a cheerful tone in all departmeits, thanks to the number of favourible influences, notably the good reeepion of the new conversion loan and the brilliant success of the Gommonweilth issue, which is reflected in the flmness of giltedgeds, while industritls benefited by the signing of the AngoArgentine trade agreement.
Rubber Shares Rise. A rise is recorded In pries of numerous commodities, ntably rubber, which advanced sharply on the appointment of a restriction committee to colaborate with the Dutch Committee. It is now believed that there Is a god chance of a restriction scheme beiig enforced next spring. This his caused a boom in rubber share, several of which advanced about .‘,O per cent in a week. The cabled news from Canbera that another Commonwealth convesion loan is pending is not surprise in view of this week’s successfll operation, but there Is some doud as to whether it can be done just y<t. It is understood that South Africa hs a prior claim to convert aboit £15,000,000; also as the Morniig Post points out having regard to tie fact that there is a large call of S per cent on the last loan due on Ocober 30, there is something to be sad for a pause before the next conversion operation is attempted, especially, as so far as can be seen ,t present, there is no reason to antlopate any setback in trustee securltle.
