SEQUEL TO COLLISION.

DAMAGES AWARDED. HUNTLY, Saturday. Judgment for plaintiff was entered in the Huntly Magistrate’s Court in a defended civil action, when damages amounting to £65 5s 5d were claimed by Frederick Hieatt (Mr H. T. Gillies), a storekeeper of Frankton Junction, against Ronald Stone (Mr Goldstine), of Auckland. The proceedings were the result of a collision in Huntly South between plaintiff’s van and a car driven by defendant. Plaintiff stated that in company with Claude Kelly, an employee, he left Auckland for Frankton on April 17th, reaching Huntly about 9 p.m. They travelled through the town slowly. Coming around a bend he could see defendant’s car about 50 yards away, and right up to the time it. struck his van, it was on its wrong side of the road. He was on the correct side of the road. His van was considerably damaged as a result of the collision.

For the defence evidence was given by occupants of the car that the van was on the wrong side of the road. The Magistrate gave judgment for plaintiff for £B4 17s 3d, with costs £3 and witnesses’ expenses £2 16s Gd. The ''ounter-claim was for £4 lis.
