WIRES TAMPERED WITH.

TAPPED TO GIVE EXTRA LIGHT. WARNING PROSECUTION BROUGHT TE AROHA, Thursday. In the Magistrate’s Court to-day a case brought by the Thames Valley Power Board, to serve as -a warning, was heard before Mr F. W. Platts, S.M. Robert Steven Avery, of Hikutaia, admitted tampering with electrical apparatus which was subject to the electrical supply regulations. Mr G. Gilchrist, for the hoard, said that defendant had connected with an unauthorised extension a heating point which was tapped to give light in another room. The gravity of the offence lay in the fact that by so doing he was able -to obtain power at the -cooking rate for lighting, which was of far more significance than the lesser offence of tampering. The magistrate said that in the circumstances he thought a fine of 10s, with costs, would meet the case.
