WAS SHE SEAWORTHY?

LOSS OF A COLLIER. ALLEGATIONS BY SEAMEN. A “CRANKY” SHIP. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright •SYDNEY, Aug. 1. At the Marine Court's Inquiry into the loss of the collier Christina Fraser in heavy weather on the night of June 23, meteorological reports described tlie weather in the vicinity ol' Gabo, where the vessel is believed to have foundered, as quite moderate. Yet, according to the master of the Koranui, it was very violent when he last saw the Christina Fraser in that locality. 'File Seamen’s Union called two former seamen employed on the Christina Fraser. Bolii said she was a “cranky” ship, quite unsuitable for the coal trade between Newcastle and Melbourne. They were always "windy” and finally left her. The inquiry stands adjourned.
