TRADE RECIPROCITY.

OBJECTS OF FEDERATION. ADDRESS BY MR GOODFELLOW. TAURANGA, Monday. There was a large attendance cf farmers and businessmen at the Coronation Hall to-day, when an address was given by Mr W. Goodfellow on the ■objects of the New Zealand Producers’ and United Kingdom Manufacturers’ Reciprocal Trade Federation. Mr Goodfellow said branches had been formed In Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, and subbranches at Hamilton, Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Morrinsville, Te Aroha and Paeroa. It was hoped to form further sub-branches throughout the North Island within the next fortnight. Mr Goodfellow spoke at length on the importance of the British market to New Zealand, and said there was no other alternative market for this country. New Zealand should aim for free trade with the United Kingdom, which would reduce retail prices and also the cost of Government services, said Mr Goodfellow. If free trade were not developed restrictions of New Zealand’s exports would he brought In in two years. Mr J. Seabrook, a member of the executive committee of the Auckland brance of the, federation, said that a two-way trade would assist British manufacturers and, the New Zealand primary producers. A motion was carried unanimously that a sub-branch of the federation be formed in Tauranga. Later Messrs Goodfellow and Seabrook left for Whakatane and Opotikl.
