IMPROVEMENT SCHEME. PROTEST TO GOVERNMENT. MEETING AT MASTERTON, (By Telegraph.— Press Association.) MASTERTON, Monday. A well-attended meeting of sheep farmers to-day was addressed by Mr. J. E. Hewitt, Dr. E. Marsden and Sir William Perry on the sheep and wool improvement scheme. A motion affirming that something should be done in connection with the improvement of wool was carried unanimously. The meeting rejected by 24 votes to 15 a proposal that the Meat Board should be asked wholly to finance a research and Improvement scheme. A motion approving the establishment’ of the. proposed special committee and the imposition of a levy of 3d a bale on wooF'Svas carried without dissent. After some discussion the following motion was carried: —’“That a protest be made against the Railways Board, with the help of the Transport Appeal Board (1). creating a monopoly' of transport; (2) fixing a minimum tariff on transport; (3) the restriction on private enterprise through the granting of area and seasonal licences.”
