FOREST LAKE QUEEN.
MOCK COURT HELD. AMUSING EVENT AT FRANKTON. The candidature of the Forest Lake nominee in the Frankton Queen carnival received further stimulus last night, when a very humorous mock court was held in St. George’s Hall. There was a good attendance, .and as a result the Forest Lake candidate’s votes should be considerably augmented.
Some highly amusing , ".charges” were laid against well-known residents, and justice was ably dispensed by the judge, Mr A. L. Tompkins, who had associated with him Mr W. J. King, as Crown Prosecutor; Mr R. McCaw, sergeant of police; Mr A. G. Ward, constable; and Mr R. W. Bennett, clerk of court and probation officer.
Unlike the usual mock court, last night’s event consisted of a series of brief charges, interspersed with community singing, led by Mr W. Fenton. During the evening Mrs E. Deuriove, of Te Aroha, sang several songs, while Miss P. Sorby entertained with violin solos. The accompaniments wore played by Mrs H- Absolum.
