The Coal Stabilisation Counoil states that a new market for coal, as large and valuable as that represented by the ontjre British gas industry, is in prospect as a result of the Government’s encouragement of home-pro-cluced petrol. ' The possibilities of this development have also been considered by the South Wales Industrial Development Gouhcil, which has decided to set up a committee of ' experts, coal owners and miners’ representatives to explore the que-stlon of building plant l'or the production of oil from coal under a guaranteed preference scheme..
