VALUES IMPROVE.
FRANKTON BTOCK SALE. ADVANCE IN SHEEP PRICES. - OX BEEF FIRMER. A better tone prevailed at -the Frank‘ton stock -sale to-day, and in a number of cases prices showed a marked improvement on last week’s quotations. An average yarding of sheep was offered, and -sold under good demand at prices- generally in advance of late rates. Wethers rose by about Is 6d, while ewes were about 3s better than at the previous sale.., pat ewes made from 18s to 235, extra heavy prime wethers, to 27s 6d, fat wethers, 20s to 255, and hoggets, 14s to 19s. An average yarding of fat cattle came forward and here-again values were firmer, ox beef advancing by about 10s a bead. Heavy bullooks made from £6 17s 6d to £7 12s, choice medium-weight, £5 10s to £6 10s; while the best young fat cows realised from £3 15s to £5, medium, £2 15s to £3 ss, and light £2 to £2 10 s.
There was a small offering of fr pigs and a large yarding of stores, and values were firm at late rates. Heavy baconers made from 38s to 435, medium 32s (o 365, good porkers 23s to 28s, lighter 18s to 225, good stores 18s to 21s, poorer sorts 12s to 15s, slips 9s to 11s, good Aveaners 10s to 14-s, inferior 7s to 9s.
