GIRL’S DEATH.
POISON MYSTERY. COLLAPSE AT BEDSIDE. (From a Correspondent.) SYDNEY, July 22.Detective Sergeant Allmond has been sent to Inverell by the Criminal Investigation Branch to solve the mystery surrounding the death of Edith Morrow, an 18-year-old servant girl, who died a few days ago. The Government Analyst has reported to the police that strychnine was found in the stomach, and it is reported unofficially that the quantity of poison recovered was unusually large and was sufficient to cause death in-a short time.
Although Detective Allmond left Sydney four days ago to make inquiries, it was not until last night that the fact that the girl’s death was accompanied by unusual circumstances was generally known. The body was found beside a' bed at the home of the girl’s employer. It was ciad in pyjama pants and a singlet, while-the pyjama coat was neatly folded on the bed, indicating that the girl was preparing to retire when she collapsed and died. The parents of the girl live at Mount Russell, near Inverell, and she has been in the employ of Mr and Mrs Robertson, of Inverell, for some months. One possibility which the police will investigate is that the girl took the poison accidentally. '
