BILLIARD CHAMPION.
ARRIVAL IN NEW ZEALAND. DISCOVERY OF FINE PLAYER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. Melbourne Inman, who for 12 years was world professional billiards champion, set foot in Wellington again for the first time since 1912 this evening when he arrived by the Wanganella from Sydney.
During his tour of Australia Mr Inman met Horace Lindrum, nephew ol Walter Lindrum, and discovered in him a snooker player whom he believes has no equal in the world- Such is his faith in the younger Lindrum that Mr Inman is returning to Melbourne and Horace is to accompany him to London for a tour of the Old Country.
Young Lindrum has already made the amazing break of 139 at snooker, while in the case of billiards matches with Mr Inman he made several breaks of over 300. Later in the evening Mr Inman attended the final of the Wellington amateur championship and presented the trophies. Angus Duncan (Y.M-C.A.), 500, beat S. M. G. Simpson (G.P.0.), 294, in the final.
