PEDLAR’S BANKRUPTCY.

LIABILITIES TOTAL £68,000. (From a Correspondent.) SYDNEY, July 20. Samuel Curotta was examined today before the Registrar in Bankruptcy, and he admitted that his total liabilities were about £68,000. He added that lie had started business as a pedlar and in the past 20 years he had had 42 different businesses. His seoured liabilities amounted to about £BO,OOO, and unsecured liabilities to between £6OOO and £BOOO. He attributed his bankruptcy to “many unfortunate incidents" —the sudden change in price levels, and . opulent mortgagors who were hungry and greedy.

r l’he bankrupt said that he gave a mortgage of £IO,OOO over his whole estate to his mother.

In reply to a question Curotta said that he was now selling shares at 5s a time. He was advising on controversial problems. “I am knocking out a few pounds a week,” he added. The examination was adjourned.
