EXPERT BURGLAR.
CAREER ENDED BY POLICE. UNIQUE KEYS FOUND. (From a Correspondent.) SYDNEY, July 24. A number of skeleton keys which the police regard as being among the best they have seen were found when they arrested a young man yesterday on charges of house-brealdng. It was stated that the man, who is an expexi; housebreaker, has been responsible for numerous robberies from suburban homes. He never left the premises In disorder, and on many occasions it was not until several days had elapsed that the victims realised that a.burgler had been in their home. The police stated that the man’s method was to knock at the door, and if it was not opened he would admit ♦himself either with a skeleton key or with a piece of wire he would work the key loose from the back of the door, allow It to drop on to a sheet of paper, and then withdraw It. He was arrested at Maroubra. At the Central Police Court to-day, Arthur Collins, 25, a joiner, was charged with breaking and entering. The police produced a statement in which it was alleged that Collins admitted having broken into 50 houses In the past fortnight. He was committed for trial.
