REPRESSING COMMUNISTS.

EXTENSIVE PLOTTING ALLEGED

United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. BERLIN, July 29. Ninety-three Communist leaders have been arrested in North Germany. They are charged with secretly reorganising their party. The secet police ha’ve ordered all the Communists who_ are imprisoned in Germany to go without lunoheon for three days owing to some unknown person cutting down a tree that was planted by President Hindenbupg at Tempelhofer Feld on May 1 in celebration of the first national Labour Day under the Nazi regime. It is assarted by the police that the Communist movement can be driven underground only by savage repressive measures. The Reds, they say,' are plotting throughout Germany to overthrow the Chancellor, Herr Hitler. 1

The activities of the Communists include the publication of seoret newspapers, the distribution of arms and attacks on Nazis.

New Communist “cells” are discovered almost dally, notably in the Ruhr. , *' ’

Storm troops in Bochum discovered an organisation with between 4000 apd 5000 members. This led to a roumf-up and arrests, including that of the leader, Hulsman, and seizures of explosives and ammunition. There have been many arrests in Leipsig and in Britain, where, it is alleged, the Chief of Police was to be assassinated.

A Jewish telegraph agenoy has circulated a report to tile effect that storm troops on July 24 carried off 16 Jewish students and a teacher from a Brunswich school to the Nazis’ barracks,: where they. were beaten. One student, Beni Zauberel, subsequently died. The Nazis handed his body to Jews for burial, alleging that they had heard the students .'criticising Ilerr Goebbels, Minister of Education. ,

July 29. - A message from Salzburg states that five German aeroplanes crossed the Austrian frontier from Bavaria and the occupants' dropped thousands of leaflets attacking the “traitorous Dolfuss Government." The leaflets urged - the • people of Austria to revolt. The aeroplanes were not hindered, owing to the absence of an Austrian defence aeroplane which was attending a Nazi demonstration at Graz.^
