“LIFE AND DEATH” MATTER. AUTOMOBILE CLUB’S VIEW. “I think this matter of glaring headlights is a matter of life and death,” said Mr E. Palllser at a meeting of the Wellington Automobile Club. Mr Palliser said he considered that local authorities should be asked that the law be carried out In regard to glaring headlights in every case, whether members of' the olub were concerned or not.., , The question should be taokled firmly, Mr-Palliser continued. Authorities should be asked for It to be rigidly enforced. The small-car: owner was the worst offender. He did not think that the old exouse of headlights being shaken out of adjustment by vibration would now oarry any weight. Dr. G. Robertson; The position on the Hutt Road at night Is nowadays so bad that I am getting afraid to travel along it. The secretary (Mr N. Sutherland) said the ! headlight regulations were not airthey should be,'and the police were sometimes loath to take offenders to oourt because of their doubt about obtaining a conviction.
