FANCY DRESS SOCIAL.

AT WAITOA. ' ' V v 1 ' ; 'V .■ The attendance at the fancy dress social arranged by the Waitoa Combined Bible Class and held on Wednesday evening, far exceeded the highest expectation?. The unusual and attractive costumes showed to advantage in the grand march and made the task of the judging most difficult .as the most original' costumes were decided by the popular vote of all the people present. The result of the votes was as follow's: —Most original lady, Miss I. Greenless as an Elephant; most original gentleman, Mr D. Rushworth as a Roman Centurion. Much amusement was caused by Mr R. Mason, the Young Men’s Bible Class travelling secretary, as a member of the Kill Klux Klan, while Mr Ivon Lewis, as a Clown, drew forth many a shriek and peals of laughter, which added to the hilarity of the evening. Bright music was rendered by Mrs F. Brown. The evening was spent, in games, which were interspersed with the following items: —A song entitled “Long Ago ih Alcaic," by Mr H. Lewis; a one act play entitled “Cohen on the Wireless,” by Messrs E. Saunders and P. C. McNeill; and a dialogue entitled "Under the Doctor's Orders," was acted by the following cast:—John Hart, a much married man, played by Mr E. Saunders; Sybil, his wife, played by Miss Grace Yarrali; Dr. Armstrong, played by Mr Don Rushworth; Anne, a friend of Mrs Hart's, played by Miss P. Klaus; Nurse Steele, played by Miss I. Greenlees. The Rev. R. M. Chrystall ably carried out the duties of M.C. A dance item by the Misses Roma and Gloria Clements was very attractive, the applause being deafening. The Costumes.
