MR. ULM’S FLIGHT. » United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright. BASRA, June 30. The monoplane Faith in Australia,in which Mr. C. T. P. Ulm, Captain P. G. Taylor and Mr. G. U. Allen are flying to England, was not reported yesterday. However, the machine passed over the aerodrome at Shualbah (about 100 miles south of Basra) this ' morning. The fliers reported by wireless that they had been delayed in the Persian Gulf by a heavy sandstorm. They proposed to fly non-stop to Aleppo.
The sandstorm was of an unprecedented description. It delayed an Imperial Airways machine bound to London at Shuaibah.
The fact that Mr. Ulm and his oom- ) panions are heading for Aleppo suggests that they have changed their plan of route to a more northerly direction, possibly in order to endeavour to make up for the delay In the Persian Gulf. Yesterday it was stated that the airman had left Karachi with the intention of landing at Cairo. CAUSE OF THE DELAY. DUE TO FORCED LANDING. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received July 1, 10.15 a.m.) KARACHI, June 30. It Is understood that Mr G. T. Ulm’s delay was due to a forced landing at Jask yesterday.
