ESTIMATES FOR NEW PERIOD. v A meeting of the Fire Board wa* held yesterday, Mr C. H. Priestley presiding. - < The chairman welcomed newly-ap-pointed members. Messrs Nicoll and F. Robinson suitably replied. . The statement of receipts and expenditure disclosed that the year commenced with a credit of £l2B 18s Id and closed with a credit of £l7 3s Id, The treasurer submitted a statement to the end of June, which disclosed a credit balance of £lO3 8s Bd, Estimate*. The estimates for a ourrent yea? were brought down. The board budgeted for income totalling £590 Is 6d. Estimated expenditure was set down at £590 Is 6d. The estimates were approved. Mr J. Another round of the Cambridgf District Primary Schools’ Football Competition was played this week,with interesting results. Cambridge A defeated. Hautapu yesterday by. 6 points to 3 in an even contest. For: the winners Lynds and Arnold scored tries and White scored for Hautapu. ' Cambridge B defeated Leamington by 14 points to nil. Conder (3) an<| Bartlett scored tries and Conder converted one try. Both '-matches were refereed by Mr Bain MacDonald.

Cambridge B also defeated Cambridge Aby 16 points to 9. K. Conder secured all the points for the winners and Lynds (2) and R. Foster scored for the ,A’s. Mr T. F. Kerr refereed.
