Pears (501 b case) .—Winter and Nelis, 8s to 10s; Josephine, is to 8s; Cornice, 4s to 6s; P. Barry, 6s to 7s; Vicar, 5s to 6s.
Prices for Vegetables. Cauliflowers, Ss to 11s sack; ’cabbages, 6s to 7s sack; lettuce, 2s to 4s case; swedes, 2« to 2s 6d sack, carrots, Is 9d to 2s 3d sugar-bag, celery, Is to Is 9d bundle; carrots parsnips, beet, and turnips, 6d to lUd a dozen bundles; pumpkins, Is to zs are still in good supply, with prices from £6 10s to £7 5s a ton. Good, sound, dry onions are difficult to procure and are realising from £9 to £ll a ton, with other grades from £7 to £8 10s. The maize market is slightly firmer, and the price is Id a bushel in advance of last week’s quotations, good quality retailing in Hamilton at 4S 6d a bushel in sack lots. The southern market for fowl wheat is slightly, easier, and the value of wheat in Hamilton to-day Is 5s 61 a bushel. Under grade lines, however, are selling as low as ss. Oats are a shade firmer, A Gartons making 4s 6d and B Gartons 4s 4d. Potatoes are much firmer good quality white table varieties selling at 8s a cwt in sack lots. Chaff is not in great demand in the Waikato, although the price has firmed in the south in consequence of the demand there. Good quality chafT is making £7 10s a ton In Hamilton. Bran and pollard are in steady demand with late rates ruling. Butter, Eggs and Fish. Last week’s prices for butter remain unaltered, first grade making is 2d, second Is Id, and separator lOd. Supplies of eggs are smaller, and the price has risen to Is 6d a dozen for both hen and duck eggs. All varieties of fish are coming to hand freely, and prices are on a par with last week’s quotations.
