WIN FOR WALKER. “WHISKERS" BLAKE INJURED. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. The wrestling season opened last evening, when George Walker, the New Zealand and British Empire champion, defeated “ Whiskers" Blake. The visitor Injured his spine when he Jumped over his opponent and landed on his hack in the fourth round. Blake was obviously unfit to continue and the referee separated the contestants as Walker put his man to the floor just after the gong sounded for the fifth round. Amateur Preliminaries. Middle-weight.—S. Hollow, Whangarei, lOst JOlb beat C. Passmore, lOst 101 b, by two falls. Caleb-weight.—W. Williamson, 9st 81b, beat N. Brown, 10st 21b, with a submission fall In the second round. Light-heavy-weight. F. Miince, list 41b, drew with 11. Way, 12st, after three rounds of scientific wrestling.
