AN AMAZING THEORY: COSMOGONY

(To the Editor.) Sir, —A while ago I read in your oolumns an amazing theory regarding the origin of the earth and the reason for certain geologioal and geographical features at present above sealevel. In my opinion this theory Is wholly untenable. I was wondering if the theorist has changed his views on the matter since it was published. Firstly, the whole theory seems to be built on a few mistaken fundamentals, enlarged upon to such an extent that the rest of the story Is entirely off the track. The sources of knowledge seem to consist of the Auckland province and a few misdirecting enoyolopaedlas. The theorist obviously has not read the works of such authorities as Jeffries, Cotton, eto. Beoause this theory Is new, and Hamilton has not criticised It, he therefore assumes that it Is correct. He scornfully declares that all geologists do not know what they are talking about, which Is a very narrow outlook to -hold. He made no mention of any of the loe Ages. Perhaps he does not think that there was such a thing as an Ice Age. I would like to hear the views of some of your readers who have read the original or are interested In the subject.—l am, eto.,
