WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
TE KAWA BRANCH. A meeting of the newly-formed Women’s Institute was held In the hall on Friday afternoon, when Miss Jefferson presided over a large attendance. A great deal of business was disposed of. Miss Alderson was elected -vice-president. It was hoped that members of the Te Awamutu Institute would be present, but as this was Impossible, the visit has been postponed until the next meeting. Mesdames Houston and Lumsden displayed an eiderdown made from two fleeces. It was a very handsome article, and, costing only 17s Gd, evoked the keenest interest. [Mrs Roy Stewart’s violin solos were most acceptable. Competitions were won by Mrs C. Mexted, 'Mrs Houston, Mrs Lumsden, Mrs Martin and Miss Snodgrass.
The hostesses for the day were Mesdames McLean, Stewart, Scholes and Mexted.
