WOMEN’S DIVISION.
THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Cambridge branch of the Women’s Division of the N.Z. Farmers’ Union was held on Monday afternoon, Mrs J. A. ; Wallace presiding in the absence of i the president, Mrs G, Lambie. The annual report showed a very ! successful year’s work. Twenty-six new members had joined- the branch. A welfare committee had been formed at the beginning of last year and good work had been done in collecting and distributing clothes and food. The division had ’charge of the catering at the Agricultural Show and the return had quite justified the hard work entailed. . During tl|: year a junior branch was commenced. At present they are attached to the senior branch but it is hoped to enrol more members this year, when a branch of their own will be formed.
The housekeeping secretary. Mrs S. H. Judd, reported that during the year 16 applications were received for housekeepers. Of these. 13 were filled by branch housekeepers, the Provincial Council supplying the other three. Tlie secretary, Miss G. Marshall, reported that there were 77 financial and 19 iinflnaneial members. The balance-sheet showed receipts £O l 15s 2d and expenditure £69 3s 2d, leaving a credit balance of £25 ils 9d. Election of Officers. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs G. Lambic (re-elect,-cd) ; vice-presidents, Mesdames J, W. Peake and E. C. Wallis; secretary, .Miss 0. .Marshall; committee, Mesdames R. Martin, R. 11. Feisst. 11. P. Hewitt, I). W. Aricll, J. A. Wallace, R. Kingdom S. Lewis; advisory committee, Miss Marshall. Mesdames Lambic and Christie; welfare eommitteo, Mesdames A. McDonald, Nicholson, A. Gone, S. Lewis, W. T. Perkins; entertainment committee, Mrs J. A. Wallace. Miss M. Cooper; provincial delegates, Mctsdamcs Lambie, Fcisst and Wallace; housekeeping secretary, Mrs ?. H. Judd.
H was decided to accept. (lip Show Association’s offer and undertake the catering at die forthcoming gymkhana on May 27.
An invitation was received from die Tirau branch to nil end their birthday celebrations on May It. A district flower display was on exhibition and the stands were judged by Miss A. James, who awarded the prizes as follows: Maimgat.aulari I, Leamington 2, Rolo-o-rangi 3.
After die, meeting a dainty afternoon tea was provided.
