WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
GLEN MASSEY BRANCH. The usual monthly meeting of the Glen Massey branch was held on Thursday in the Golf Club’s pavilion, Mrs C. Swales presiding in the absence of die president, Mrs Mclntyre. Miss Jackson, Auckland, of the Women’s National Council, gave a very Interesting address on Child Welfare Work, for which she was accorded a very hearty vole of thanks. The hostesses for die afternoon were Mesdames S. Fowler and Brown. AT TE KOWHAI. The monthly meeting of the institute was held on April 19. The meeting opened with die singing of the Institute song. The remits for the bi-annual conference of die W.F.W.I. were read and discussed. Two amendments were made. An emblem flower, die manuka, was adopled by die institute and it was derided to have a link with an institute in England. The roll call for Ibis month was a "motto.” Each member gave a different one. A very interesting demonstration on "The making of a liumpt.y” was given by Mrs Porter. This was greatly appreciated by Ihe members. Tlie points eompetidui. “A dot Water Bag Cover’’ (knitted or in cloth), which was judged by Miss O'Hara, re-
suited in Mrs W. Limmer 1, Mrs Cox 2, Mrs Johnson 3. There was much laughter over the game, “musical arms.” Another competition, “A memory test,” was participated In—Mrs Cotter being Ist., Mrs Allen 2nd. The hostesses of the afternoon were: Mesdaines Limmer, W. Limmer, Laxon, La Trobe, Johnson and Taylor. Thanks were tendered to the demonstrator, the judge of the competition, and the hostesses of the afternoon. The singing of the National Anthem brought an enjoyable afternoon to a close.
