In an address Mis Excellency said Samoa was producing a first-grade quality cocoa bean and producers might have confidence that when the purchasing power of the world became normal they would obtain good prices. Lord Bledisloe urged the application bf scientific research to primary production as an important factor In the reduction of costs. Cocoa, he said, was one of the most hopeful sources of economic wealth in Samoa, and planters were carrying out a patriotic national duty In winning from -the soil the largest amount of economic wealth with reasonable profit to themselves. The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe were entertained yesterday afternoon at the famous Avele School. Commodore F. Burges Watson and the officers and men of H.M.S. Diomede also attended and the ship’s band was given a rapturous hearing. There was a roar of delighted applause when Lord Bledisloe and Commodore Burges Watson went to the wicket to display their prowess as cricketers. About 100 boys were fieldsmen and no batsman could possibly stay in more than a few minutes without being caught, bowled or run out. “Out” was called against Lord Bledisloe and the commodore almost immediately and they retired amid an uproarious demonstration.
