OBITUARY.

MR LEO M. MYERS.

United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. LONDON, April 20. The death has occurred of Mr Leo Meilziner Myers.

Mr Leo Meilziner Myers, who a brother of the late Sir Arthur Myers, was born at Ballarat, and served with the Australian Mounted Infantry in South Africa, where he took part in the famous' “Jameson Raid.” During 'the Great War he served as captain in the King’s Royal Rifles. He was a former president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce and chairman of several British transport companies.

VICE-ADMIRAL SIR W. CRESSWELL

The death Is announced of ViceAdmiral Sir William R. Cresswell, aged 81 years. The deceased Vice-Admiral was born at Gibraltar. He joined the navy in 1866, and as Commander of H.M.S. London, took a prominent part in the suppression of the slave trade operations 1875-78, for which he received the special thanks of the Foreign Minister. He retired, after being invalided in 1878. He later took service under the South Australian Goyernment. He was the first naval member of the Royal Australian Navy. He finally retired in 1919. W. H. TIETKINS, F.R.G.S. SYDNEY, April 20 The death is announced of Mr William Harry Tietkens, F.R.G.S., aged 89. He is probably the last of the old school of Australian explorers. REV. JOHN MCNEILL. LONDON, April 19. The death is announced of Rev. John McNeill, the famous mission preacher, aged 79. He started mission work with Mr R. L. Moody in 1892.

LATE MR G. W. BAGSHAW. The death occurred at Orinl Thursday of Mr George William Bagshaw, a well-known farmer of the district, aged 63 years. Born in Devonshire, England, the late Mr Bagshaw came to New Zealand about 20 years ago and took up farming. He is survived by his wife.
