Details of the polioy of reconstruction which the Labour Party would put into operation if it became the Government were made available this afternoon in the report of a special committee appointed by the Dominion Conference. The proposals include: Immediate control by the State of •the banking system. The re-adjustment of mortgages. Guaranteed prices for primary products. Orderly internal marketing at guaranteed prices. The fostering of secondary industries. The organisation of productive and development work. ' A reduction in the working hours. Guaranteed wages and salaries in accord with national production. The conversion by negotiation of the oversea debt. Negotiation for a reduction or cancellation of the war debt. RIGHT OF FREE SPEECH. OPPOSITION TO DICTATORSHIP. AUCKLAND, Saturday. At the annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party, complete agreement was expressed with the British Labour Party’s opposition to any form of dictatorship, and adherence 'to constitutional representative government and methods was reaffirmed. Protest was made against the policy of the police in preventing even municipal candidates from holding openair meetings during the local body election campaign. The right of free speech and assembly at outdoor meetings was emphasised. The alleged policy of the Broadfeasting Board In permitting the leaders of the Coalition to* broadcast political addresses, while denying tue same privilege to the leader of the Labour Party, was objected to. Protest was also made against “the frequent broadcasting by the board's announcers of controversial statements by Ministers, and the complete suppression of at least equally important utterances by the Leader of the Opossition.”
