ADDINGTON MARKET.

LATEST QUOTATIONS. The prolonged period without rain Is having an effect on the stock entered at the Addington market and the qaulity generally was indifferent. Store sheep and lambs were not in demand, owing to the general shortage of feed and water. Fat lambs and sheep were firm at late rates. Store Sheep.—A small entry consisted mainly of inferior or trave stained types. Good sheep sold up to late rates, but other sorts declined in values. Store lambs declined is to 2s a head. Forward mixed sex lambs made 5s 9d to 6s iOd; medium 3s to ss; Inferior, to 2s 7d; good crossbred ewe lambs, to 7s 4d; good twotooth half-bred ewes, to 15s 8d; medium, 12s to 13s; ordinary, to 9s; good four and six-tooth oross-bred ewes. 12s 4d to 13s 6d; medium, to 1 Is 3d; good four-year-old crossbreds, to 10s; ordinary, to 4s; half-bred wethers, 4s to 6s 3d. Fat Lambs.—-The entry was 2800. Butchers were a little keener than last week, while freezing buyers operated at the export schedule, Extra prime heavy lambs made to 17s Id; prime heavy, 13s 6d to 15s; prim o medium-weight, 10s 6d to 13s; light, 8s to 10s. Fat Sheep.—An entry of 5100 head maintained late rates. Extra prime heavy wethers realised up to 18s 7d, prime heavy', 15s to 16s 6d; mediumweight prime, 12s 6d to 14s 6d; ordinary quality, 10s 6d to 12s; light, to 10s; extra prime ewes, to 12s 4d; prime, 9s Gd to 10s 6d; mediumweight, to 9s; ordinary, to 7s. Fat Cattle.—The entry of 300 head was the smallest for some time and the quality was mixed. Best beef advanced up to £1 a head, but other sorts were unchanged. Best beef was worth 17s to 20s per 1001 b; heavy-weight and medium beef, 14s 6d to 17s; good heifer, 15s to 18s; good cow, 13s to 16s; extra prime heavy steers sold tip to £9 17s 6d; prime heavy, £7 to £8 10s; prime medium-weight, £6 10s to £8; ordinary quality, £4 10s to £6; light, to £4; extra prime heifers, to £7 12s 6d; prime, £4 5s to £6; medium, £3 to £4; light, to £3; extra prime cows, to £6 7s 6d; prime, £3 10s to £5; light and medium, to £3. Fat Pigs.—A very small entry caused a keen sale, with a sharp advance in values. Dunedin, North Island and export buyers were represented, but the keenness of the sale prevented them from entering. the market. Choppers made 30s to £4 16s; baconers, 40s to' 47s 6d; heavy 32s 6d to 56s 6d; extra heavy to £3 Is 6d (average price per lb, 3fd to 4Ad.); porkers, 26s 6d to 32s 6d; heavy, 33s 6d to 38s 6d (average price per lb, 4Jd to sd). TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: At Te Awamutu sale on Thursday a medium yarding of sheep came forward, prices being well up to recent quotations. Fat and store cattle remained firm at late rates, while dairy heifers were dull of sale. Pigs: There were very few store and weaner pigs yarded, but an exceptionally good yarding of fats, comprising very good quality baconers and porkers, which met with keen competition at rates easily on a par with Franlcton sale. Quotations: Fat wethers, 11s Id; fat lambs, 10s 7d to 11s; fat ewes, 8s to 9s; klllable ewes, 6s- IOd; 'store lambs, 9s sd; cull lambs, 5s 2d; cull ewes, 3s lOd to 7s. Cattle: Heavy fat steers, £6; light fat steers, £3 12s to £3 15s; ■fat cows, £2 to £2 10s; klllable cows, £1 13s to £1 19s; fresh store cows, £1 6s to £1 12s Gd; boner cows, 10s to £1; potter bulls, £2 4s to £3 17s. Pigs: Prime heavy choppers, £1 18s to £2 2s; heavy baconers, £2 3s to £2 ss; prime quality medium 'baconers, 38s to £2; lighter baconers, 33s to 375; heavy porker’s, 29s to 32s 6d; medium porkers, 2Gs to 28s; light porkers, 20s 6d to 25s 6d; large ■stores, 16s to 19s; slips, 9s to 11s Gd; weaners, 6s to Bs.
