DASH TO POLE.
EXPEDITION THIS YEAR. YOUNG ENGLISHMAN’S PLANS. MOTOR LAUNCH TO BE USED. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. LONDON, Feb. 22. Biddulph Pease, who was a midshipman in the “Discovery” Expedition in 192'5, and third officer of the Score'by Expedition in 1928, intends to journey from London to the South Pole, using a 50ft. motor launch with a cruising speed of 20 knots. He will start in the summer with five young companions, all experts in meteorology, including wireless operator. Apart from the dash to the Pole, Pease proposes to survey the possibility of establishing a permanent meteorological station on the great ice barrier. Depots for the final overland race to the Pole are already planned.
