MORRINSVILLE STOCK SALE

The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report having held their fortnightly sale at Morrinsville on Friday. There was an exceptionally heavy yarding of sheep, including a big entry of breeding ewes from the East Coast and Tokomaru Bay districts. The sheep arrived in good order, and attracted a good deal of attention from a large attendance of buyers. Bidding throughout was brisk, and the whole yarding of over 12,000 sheep changed hands at quite satisfactory prices. A large entry of store iambs was sought after by the dairyfarmers, and were practically all sold under the hammer. There was a good yarding of <ail classes of cattle, including a few pens of ox beef, for which quotations remained very firm. Cows and heifers of good quality sold readily at late rates. The advertised lino of steers and heifers from the East Coast attracted good attention and sold at late ruling values. A few pens of good quality Jersey weaner calves also met with good competition. There was an average yarding of pigs, comprising mainly good class porkers and baconers. The yarding of stores also was better than usual. Prices for all fat pigs remained firm at late rates, while stores and weaners met with good competition, the bidding being brisk right to the end of the sale.

Heavy choppers £2 9s to £2 12s, lighter choppers 26s to 375, prime heavy baconers £2 9s to £2 12s, prime quality medium baconers £2 4s to £2 7s, light baconers 37s to £2 3s, heavv porkers 35s to 38s, medium porkers 30s to 345, light porkers 24s to 295, large stores £i to 22s 6d, smaller stores 17s to 19s, slips 13s 6cl to 16s 6d, good weaners 10s 6d to 13s, smaller weaners 6s 6d to 9s Gd.

STOCK SALEB. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile, Te Kuiti, report having conducted sales last week as follows: — Te Kuiti ram fair.—A very successful sale took place. ■ Romneys were keenly sought after and a total clearance of both Southdowns and Romneys was effected. The top price of the day for southdowns was secured by Mr C. E. Craini, of Feilding, for two rams at sgns. each being secured by Mr F. Hardy, of Te Kuiti, his entry of eight rams averaging £4 6s. Other prices were as follows: Southdowns, 3gns. to 4gns; best Romney rams, 4 4 gns. to s:]giis.; others, 24gns to Sifgns. iO'torohanga sheep fair.—On Wednesday a good yarding of sheep was penned. The annual drafts of ewes from the back country were keenly sought after. Mr J. Richmond’s annual draft of 4-year ewes topped the market, being secured by Messrs. Crumpstone Bros, at Its 4d. Other prices were as follows: two-tooth ewes, 10s 6d to I2s*9d; others, 8s 6d to 9s 2d; sixtooth ewes, 11s; live-year ewes, 8s to 10s; s.m. ewes, 5s to 7s; aged ewes, 3s to 4s 4d; small two-tooth wethers, 7s 3d to 9s 7d; good m.s. lambs, 7s lOd to 8s 4d; good wether lambs, 7s to 7s lid: medium m.s. lambs, 6s to 6s lOd; rams, £1 10s to £3 3s. Pio Pio sheep sale.—On Thursday another good yarding of sheep was penned, but they were not so keenly sought after as at recent sales. We quote: five-year ewes, 8s to 9s; 4year ewes, 8s 9d to 9s 6d; two-tooth ewes, 10s 6d to 11s 3d; s.m. ewes, 6s 9d to 7s 8d; others, 3s to ss; wether lambs, 6s to 6s 6d.
