WOMEN'S INSTITUTE. A special meeting of the Women's Institute was held when Mrs Harrison, of Pahiatua, gave a full-day demonstration in paper rope weaving and basket making: also pine-needle, work and seagrass stool. In the afternoon .Mrs Harrison gave a display of all her very delightful work, including many articles made from waste products. MAD-HATTERS’ BALL. To celebrate the Institute’s first birthday a halt was held on Friday evening last. Air Reel s orchestra from ' Pirongia supplied excellent music. The hall was tastefully decorated in the Institute colours, orange and black. Miss Hills, president, assisted by an aide committee, did everything possible to make the evening the huge success that, it was. Prizes were given for the most original and most humorous lints, the prize-winners being: Mi's Andrews ami Mrs Herbert, and Messrs Holley ■uni pope. A .Monte Carlo waltz was woo by Miss Charleston and partner.
