AUSTRALIAN EGGS.
PRICES IN LONDON.
late rates not maintained.
STRONG COMPETITION.
United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. LONDON, Nov. 27. The egg market has failed to maintain the position mentioned a fortnight ago. Prices have given way about Is Gd per long hundred. This chiefly is due to heavy supplies, for this week’s market has had to deal with no fewer than 100,000 boxes of Australian, containing 36,000,000 eggs. •In addition, there have been large arrivals from South Africa, Argentina, and Uruguay, all of which come into direct competition with Australian as they are of good quality and well packed and graded. Another cause of weakness In the Australian product is that there are too many small receivers handling them, and they sometimes undercut the large importers.
